The story of the Studebaker National Museum's '63 Zip Van

But, how did it start out? About 15 years ago, the Studebaker National Museum sent out a letter to all of the Chapters of the SDC, with a list of the Studebakers they wanted to add to the collection. On that list, was a Zip Van. Neil Thornton, President of the South Georgia Chapter, happened to have one rusting away in his junk yard. With the agreement of the club, Neil donated the Van to the Chapter, and work began. After 2 years of hard work and elbow grease, the Zip Van was towed the 850 miles to South Bend, Indiana at the time of the SDC's International Meet in 1997. The Van was donated to the Studebaker National Museum at that time, and it still resides there today for all to see.
